Methyl acetate is a clear, colorless liquid with a pleasant fruity odor. It is highly volatile, readily miscible with most organic solvents, and partially soluble in water. Boiling point is 56.9 °C, melting point –98 °C, density 0.932 g cm⁻³ at 20 °C, and flash point –10 °C.

Methyl acetate is a fast-evaporating solvent widely used in nitrocellulose, cellulose acetate, paints, coatings, adhesives, and nail-polish removers. It serves as an intermediate in organic synthesis to produce pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and fragrances. Its low toxicity and agreeable odor also make it suitable for food-grade flavoring and extraction processes.

Supplied in 180 kg epoxy-lined steel drums, 850 kg IBC totes, or 20 t ISO tanks. Small lots are packed in 25 L UN-approved HDPE jerricans. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from ignition sources, oxidizers, and acids. Keep below 30 °C, out of direct sunlight, and ensure containers are tightly closed and electrically grounded during handling.
