Paraxylene (also known as PX) is an organic compound with the chemical formula C8H10. It is one of the important aromatic hydrocarbon compounds. At room temperature, it is a colorless transparent liquid with an aromatic smell and is insoluble in water. It can be miscible with most organic solvents such as ethanol, ether, and chloroform.

It is mainly used as a raw material for producing polyester fibers and resins, paints, dyes and pesticides. It is also used as a standard substance for chromatographic analysis and a solvent, and is also employed in organic synthesis.
