2,3-Butanedione is an organic compound. It is a light yellow to yellow-green liquid with a strong odor. It is soluble in water, ethanol, and ether. It is mainly used for preparing cream flavoring agents and is the main raw material for the production of pyrazine-type fragrances.

3.Ámbito de aplicación y uso
2,3-Butanedione is a naturally occurring aromatic compound, mainly used as a food flavoring agent (for butter and cream flavors, FEMA 2370), in dairy product processing (for artificial butter and cheese flavor enhancement), in snack seasoning (for popcorn and chips), and as a flavoring agent for tobacco products.
4.Embalaje y almacenamiento
Diacetyl is packaged in 25kg brown glass bottles or HDPE plastic drums. For food-grade use, it should be protected by nitrogen filling. It should be stored in a refrigerated environment (<15℃), strictly protected from light and heat, and kept away from fire sources and oxidants. It is highly volatile. During operation, ventilation is required. The shelf life is 12 months.
