El acetato de vinilo es un l\u00edquido incoloro y m\u00f3vil con un olor dulce y afrutado. Es muy inflamable, con un punto de ebullici\u00f3n de 72,7 \u00b0C, un punto de congelaci\u00f3n de -93 \u00b0C y un punto de inflamaci\u00f3n de -8 \u00b0C. La densidad es de 0,932 g cm-\u00b3 a 20 \u00b0C, y es ligeramente soluble en agua mientras que es miscible con la mayor\u00eda de disolventes org\u00e1nicos.<\/p>\n

El acetato de vinilo es el principal mon\u00f3mero para producir acetato de polivinilo, alcohol polivin\u00edlico y copol\u00edmeros de etileno-acetato de vinilo. Estos pol\u00edmeros se emplean ampliamente en pinturas al agua, adhesivos, revestimientos de papel y textiles, pel\u00edculas de envasado, bases de chicles y aglutinantes de telas no tejidas. El mon\u00f3mero tambi\u00e9n se utiliza para fabricar productos intermedios para pinturas, revestimientos y especialidades qu\u00edmicas.<\/p>\n

4.Embalaje y almacenamiento<\/h3>\n

El acetato de vinilo se suministra en bidones de acero con revestimiento epoxi de 180 kg, contenedores IBC de 1000 L o camiones cisterna de acero inoxidable. Cantidades m\u00e1s peque\u00f1as est\u00e1n disponibles en garrafas de HDPE de 25 L aprobadas por la ONU. Almacenar en un lugar fresco, sombreado y bien ventilado, alejado de oxidantes, \u00e1cidos y fuentes de ignici\u00f3n; mantener la temperatura por debajo de 25 \u00b0C y evitar la polimerizaci\u00f3n por almacenamiento prolongado.
