El dietilenglicol se utiliza ampliamente como disolvente, plastificante y humectante en diversas industrias. Es un intermediario clave en la producci\u00f3n de resinas de poli\u00e9ster insaturado y poliuretanos. El DEG tambi\u00e9n se utiliza en la deshidrataci\u00f3n de gas natural, tintas de impresi\u00f3n, adhesivos y cosm\u00e9ticos. En las industrias tabaquera y textil, sirve como agente suavizante y acondicionador. Adem\u00e1s, se emplea en l\u00edquidos de frenos y anticongelantes por su alto punto de ebullici\u00f3n y sus propiedades higrosc\u00f3picas.<\/p>\n

El dietilenglicol debe almacenarse en recipientes herm\u00e9ticamente cerrados de acero inoxidable, aluminio o bidones revestidos para evitar la absorci\u00f3n de humedad y la contaminaci\u00f3n. Es higrosc\u00f3pico y puede degradarse cuando se expone al aire o a agentes oxidantes fuertes.
