1.Product Property

Pyridine is a colorless, hygroscopic liquid with a sharp, fishy, amine-like odor. It is miscible with water and most organic solvents; its boiling point is 115.2 °C, melting point –41.6 °C, density 0.978 g cm⁻³ at 25 °C, refractive index 1.510, and flash point 20 °C. The vapor pressure is 2.76 kPa at 25 °C and the auto-ignition temperature 482 °C.

3.Application Scope and Usage

Pyridine is a versatile solvent and building block for agrochemicals, pharmaceuticals and fine chemicals. It is used to synthesize vitamins B3 and B6, antihistamines and local anesthetics, and serves as a precursor for herbicides such as paraquat and diquat. In rubber and textile industries it accelerates vulcanization and aids dye leveling, while its strong coordination ability makes it an essential ligand in catalysis and analytical chemistry.

4.Package and Storage

Pyridine is supplied in 200 L epoxy-coated steel drums (net 190 kg), 25 L UN-approved HDPE drums (net 24 kg), or 1 L borosilicate glass bottles (net 0.9 kg). Store in a cool, shaded, well-ventilated area below 30 °C, away from oxidizers, acids and ignition sources. Keep containers tightly closed and electrically grounded during transfer to prevent static sparks.
