1.Product Property
Isobutanol is a clear, colorless liquid with a mild, sweet odor. It is miscible with most organic solvents and partially soluble in water; its boiling point is 107.9 °C, melting point –108 °C and flash point 28 °C. Density is 0.802 g cm⁻³ at 20 °C, and the refractive index is 1.396.
2.Technical Norm
Parameter | Specification |
Appearance | Colorless liquid |

Acidity (as acetic) | ≤ 0.005 % |
Color (APHA) | ≤ 10 |
3.Application Scope and Usage
Isobutanol is a versatile solvent for nitrocellulose lacquers, alkyd resins and amino coatings, giving good flow and blush resistance. It is hydrogenated to isobutyl acetate for high-solvent power esters, dehydrated to isobutylene for rubber chemicals, and used as an intermediate for plasticizers, pharmaceuticals and agricultural products. In cosmetics it serves as a fragrance diluent and extraction solvent.
4.Package and Storage
Isobutanol is supplied in 165 kg epoxy-lined steel drums (net), 850 kg IBC totes, or 20–25 t ISO tank containers. Drums are UN-approved 1A1/Y1.2/100. Store in a cool, well-ventilated flammable-liquid warehouse below 30 °C away from oxidizers, strong acids and ignition sources. Keep containers tightly closed, grounded during transfer, and segregated from incompatible materials.
