L'octad\u00e9canol peut \u00eatre utilis\u00e9 dans la production de Pingpingol, de r\u00e9sines, de caoutchouc synth\u00e9tique et de colorants pour les films color\u00e9s, etc. L'antioxydant 1076 (2082-79-3) peut \u00eatre pr\u00e9par\u00e9 en faisant r\u00e9agir l'octad\u00e9canol avec le propionate de m\u00e9thyle \u03b2-(3, 5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyph\u00e9nyl) avec du m\u00e9thoxyde de sodium comme catalyseur et du sulfoxyde de dim\u00e9thyle comme solvant \u00e0 130\u2103 pendant 2 \u00e0 3 heures.
