La 2,3-butanedione est un compos\u00e9 aromatique naturel, principalement utilis\u00e9 comme agent aromatique alimentaire (pour les ar\u00f4mes de beurre et de cr\u00e8me, FEMA 2370), dans la transformation des produits laitiers (pour l'am\u00e9lioration des ar\u00f4mes artificiels de beurre et de fromage), dans l'assaisonnement des snacks (pour le pop-corn et les chips), et comme agent aromatique pour les produits du tabac.<\/p>\n

Le diac\u00e9tyle est conditionn\u00e9 dans des bouteilles en verre brun de 25 kg ou dans des f\u00fbts en plastique HDPE. Pour une utilisation alimentaire, il doit \u00eatre prot\u00e9g\u00e9 par un remplissage \u00e0 l'azote. Il doit \u00eatre stock\u00e9 dans un environnement r\u00e9frig\u00e9r\u00e9 (<15\u2103), \u00e0 l'abri de la lumi\u00e8re et de la chaleur, et \u00e0 l'\u00e9cart des sources de feu et des oxydants.
