Il est particuli\u00e8rement efficace pour dissoudre la nitrocellulose, les r\u00e9sines acryliques et les compos\u00e9s \u00e9poxy. Il est \u00e9galement utilis\u00e9 dans l'industrie \u00e9lectronique pour le nettoyage et le d\u00e9graissage des composants. En outre, il sert d'agent de couplage dans les syst\u00e8mes \u00e0 base d'eau et d'agent coalescent dans les peintures au latex.
