The alcohol ether carboxylate AEC is a new type of multifunctional anionic surfactant. Its general structural formula is: R-(OCH2CH2)nOCH2COONa(H). It is very similar to soap, but the embedded EO chains give it the characteristics of both anionic and nonionic surfactants, and it can be used in a wide range of pH conditions.

三．Application scope and Usage

The excellent properties of ether carboxylates determine their wide range of applications:

1. As emulsifiers for cream-based cosmetics.
2. For oral hygiene products, without inhibiting lysozyme.
3. When mixed with AEC in soap blocks, it can improve the mildness, calcium soap dispersibility, foaming performance and bath sensation.
4. As a detergent, it can partially replace LAS and corresponding nonionic surfactants, and be used in household detergents, industrial detergents and phosphorus-free detergents.
5. In personal cleaning and protection products, such as mild shampoo, body wash, facial cleanser, baby shampoo, liquid soap, etc.
6. In the textile industry, it can be used for pre-treatment of cotton fabric, mercerization treatment, refining, bleaching, etc.; for wool cleaning and treatment, it has a better effect than the corresponding nonionic; as a compound with amino siloxane as a fabric softener, it can improve the softening effect, fabric wrinkle resistance and no yellowing; at the same time, as an emulsifier and leveling agent, it is used in the dyeing and coating processes of synthetic fibers and wool (for disperse dyes), AEC can improve the stability and dyeing behavior in the dye formulation.
7. In water-soluble cutting oil, it can improve the emulsification effect and stability, and enhance the anti-corrosion effect (molecules do not contain N, P, S).
8. As an emulsifier and viscosity reducer for tertiary oil recovery and oil transportation, it improves crude oil recovery rate and wax precipitation prevention.
9. In the paper industry, it is used in waste paper desizing agents and formulations containing quaternary ammonium salts softeners.
10. In the leather industry, it is used in the degreasing process of raw hides.
11. As an emulsifier, it can significantly improve light resistance.
12. In the separation process of extracting divalent metal ions such as Zn, Cd, Hg, Ca, AEC can improve selectivity.
13. As a foaming agent for foam fire extinguishing.
