Structural formula:

1. Product Property

Castor oil is a colorless to pale yellow viscous liquid with a distinctive odor. It has a high viscosity, a density of approximately 0.96 g/cm³, and a saponification value of around 185 mg/g。It is insoluble in water but soluble in organic solvents. The oil is known for its high content of ricinoleic acid, which contributes to its unique properties and applications.

2. Quality Standard

Parameter Specification
Color Yellow to brownish yellow
Acid Value ≤ 0.5 mgKOH/g
Saponification Value 185-195 mg/g
Iodine Value 80-90 g/100g
Free Fatty Acids ≤ 0.3%
Water Content ≤ 0.1%
Density (20°C, g/cm³) 0.96-0.98

3. Application Scope and Usage

Castor oil is widely used in the production of polyurethane foams, lubricants, and hydraulic fluids due to its high viscosity and unique fatty acid composition. It is also used as a raw material in the synthesis of various chemicals, including sebacic acid and glycerol. In the cosmetic industry, it is used as an emollient and moisturizer due to its occlusive properties. Additionally, it serves as a base for varnishes and as a component in paints and inks。

4. Package and Storage

Castor oil is typically packaged in 200-liter drums or 1000-liter IBC containers。It should be stored in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. The storage temperature should not exceed 25°C to maintain the quality of the oil. Drums should be stacked no more than two high to prevent damage and ensure easy access。
