1.Product Property
Dimethylamine is a colorless, highly volatile gas with a penetrating ammonia-like odor at high concentrations and a fishy odor when diluted. It is miscible with water, ethanol and ether; its boiling point is 6.9 °C and melting point –92.2 °C. The relative density is 0.68, and the vapor pressure is 202.65 kPa at 10 °C, creating flammable and corrosive vapors.

3.Application Scope and Usage
Dimethylamine is a versatile intermediate serving the rubber, leather, pharmaceutical, pesticide, textile and dye industries. In rubber processing it acts as a vulcanization accelerator; in leather it is used for depilation. It is a key building block for the manufacture of N,N-dimethylformamide, dimethylacetamide and other solvents, and is further converted into fungicides such as thiram and ziram, insecticides like pirimicarb, and herbicides including chlortoluron and isoproturon. In pharmaceuticals it is employed to synthesize active ingredients and drug intermediates.
4.Package and Storage
Dimethylamine is supplied in high-pressure steel cylinders of 47 L (net 25 kg) or 800 L (net 400 kg), or in road tankers with a filling density of 0.55 t m⁻³. Small quantities may be packed in ampoules within wooden cases. Store in a cool, well-ventilated, explosion-proof area away from ignition sources, oxidizers, acids and halogens. Cylinders must remain upright, capped and secured during transport; tankers need flame-arresting exhausts and antistatic grounding. For long-term storage keep below 25 °C and avoid direct sunlight to prevent pressure build-up and polymerization.
