CAS: 555-43-1
Alias: Tristearin, Glycerol tristearate, 1,2,3-Propanetriyl trioctadecanoate
Molecular formula: C₅₇H₁₁₀O₆
1.Product Property
Glyceryl tristearate is a colorless, odorless crystalline powder with a faint sweet taste. It melts around 55–60 °C and readily dissolves in hot ethanol, chloroform, benzene and carbon disulfide, while being practically insoluble in water, cold ethanol, ether and petroleum ether. The ester exhibits excellent lubricity, emulsifying and hardening properties, is chemically stable under neutral conditions, but undergoes saponification or oxidative degradation when exposed to strong acids or oxidizers.

3.Application Scope and Usage
Glyceryl tristearate is widely used in pharmaceuticals, food and personal-care industries. In pharmaceuticals it functions as an excipient, emulsifier and suppository base for creams, ointments and controlled-release matrices. In food it acts as a texturizer and emulsifying agent for confectionery, margarine and whipped toppings. In cosmetics it imparts consistency to creams, lotions, shampoos and lipsticks, while in technical applications it serves as a lubricant, polishing aid and waterproofing additive for paper, textiles and leather processing.
4.Package and Storage
Packed in 20 kg net multi-layer kraft bags with polyethylene liner, or 25 kg fibre drums with sealed inner bags. Store in tightly closed containers in a cool, dry, well-ventilated warehouse away from direct sunlight, heat and ignition sources. Keep away from strong oxidants, acids and alkalis. Handle gently to avoid mechanical damage and moisture ingress; recommended storage temperature 15–30 °C, shelf life two years under proper conditions.
