n-Heptane is a colorless, transparent liquid with a faint gasoline odor. It is immiscible with water but freely miscible with ethanol, diethyl ether, acetone, chloroform, benzene and carbon tetrachloride. The substance has a melting point of –91 °C, a boiling point of 98 °C, a density of 0.71 g cm⁻³ at 20 °C, and a flash point of –4 °C, classifying it as highly flammable with an explosive range of 1.05–6.7 % v/v in air.

3.Application Scope and Usage
n-Heptane serves as the primary reference fuel for determining the zero point on the octane rating scale and is widely used as a non-polar solvent in spectroscopy, chromatography and pharmaceutical extraction. It is employed as a reaction medium in organic synthesis for Grignard and Friedel-Crafts reactions, as a cleaning agent for electronic components and precision instruments, and as a carrier solvent in adhesives, coatings and rubber processing. Laboratories use it for recrystallization, polymer fractionation and as a standard in calibrating analytical instruments.
4.Package and Storage

It is best to transport in the morning and evening during summer. The tank (cabinet) vehicles used for transportation should have grounding chains, and holes and partition boards can be set inside the tank to reduce static electricity caused by vibration. It is strictly prohibited to mix and transport with oxidants, edible chemicals, etc. During transportation, it should be protected from direct sunlight, rain, and high temperatures.
