【CAS】556-88-7
Chemical formula: CH4N4O2
Molecular weight: 104.07
【Structural Formula】
1. Product Property
Nitroguanidine is a white crystalline solid with needle-like structure, exhibiting polymorphism with α and β forms. It has moderate solubility in water (4.4 g/L at 25°C) and low solubility in organic solvents. The compound is relatively stable but decomposes at 232°C. As a secondary explosive, it shows high thermal stability and low sensitivity to impact/friction compared to other explosives. Its oxygen balance (-30.7%) and nitrogen content (53.8%) make it valuable in propellant formulations.
2. Quality Standards
| Parameter | Specification |

| pH (5% solution) | 5.0–7.0 |
3. Application Scope and Usage
Nitroguanidine serves as a key intermediate in organic synthesis, particularly for pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. It is used in the production of plant growth regulators and certain medicinal compounds. The chemical industry employs it as a nitrogen source in specialty formulations. In pyrotechnics (civilian applications), it acts as a cool-burning propellant additive.
4. Package and Storage
Nitroguanidine is typically packaged in 25 kg polyethylene-lined fiber drums or moisture-proof bags. Storage requires a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from heat sources and incompatible materials (acids, oxidizers). The storage facility should have temperature control (<30°C) and humidity below 60%. Containers must remain sealed when not in use. Shelf life is 24 months under proper conditions. Transport should follow hazardous material regulations (UN classification if applicable).
