1.Product Property

Propionic acid is also known as primary oleic acid. It is a saturated monooxygenic carboxylic acid containing three carbon atoms, and is one of the typical volatile lower fatty acids. It is a colorless and clear oily liquid with a pungent and unpleasant rancid odor.

2.

Water Content ≤ 0.1%
Formic Acid & Impurities ≤ 0.05%
Non-volatile Residue ≤ 0.01%

3.Application scope and Usage

As a food preservative, propionic acid can prevent food from spoiling due to microbial action and extend the storage time. It is particularly suitable for preserving and storing bread and pastries. Propionic acid can also be used to preserve poultry feed, preventing protein decomposition and improving digestibility. When used in butter, milk, and sour cream, it is combined with acetic acid and can be used as a raw material for synthetic flavors, giving the flavors a natural sour taste.

4.Package and Storage

Propionic Acid (Food Grade) must be stored in high-density polyethylene (HDPE) or stainless steel containers, tightly sealed to prevent moisture absorption and oxidation. Keep in a cool (<30°C), dry, well-ventilated area. Shelf life is 24 months .
