Alias: Sodium bicarbonate; Baking soda; Potassium bicarbonate; Monohydrate sodium carbonate
Molecular formula: NaHCO3 Relative molecular mass: 84.01 Structural formula:
1.Product Property
Sodium bicarbonate, with the chemical formula NaHCO₃, is an inorganic compound. It is a white powder or fine crystals, odorless, salty in taste, soluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol (some sources say it is insoluble), and the aqueous solution is slightly alkaline. It decomposes easily upon heating, slowly decomposes in the humid air, generating carbon dioxide, starting to decompose at about 50℃, and completely decomposes when heated to 270℃. It undergoes intense decomposition when exposed to acid, releasing carbon dioxide.
2.
Parameter | Industrial Grade | Food Grade |
Purity (NaHCO₃) | ≥99.0% | ≥99.5% |

Heavy Metals (Pb) | ≤5 ppm | ≤2 ppm |
Arsenic (As) | ≤3 ppm | ≤1 ppm |
3.Application scope and Usage
Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda) is widely used in food, pharmaceuticals (antacid, effervescent tablets), personal care (toothpaste, deodorant), and industry (fire extinguishers, water treatment, cleaning agents). Safe, versatile, and cost-effective.
4.Package and Storage
Sodium bicarbonate is packaged in 25kg/50kg moisture-proof woven bags (food-grade inner PE film, pharmaceutical-grade aluminum foil bags). Store in a cool and dry place (<25°C, relative humidity ≤60%), avoiding contact with acidic substances. The shelf life is 12 months. After opening, it should be sealed to prevent moisture absorption and caking.
