Structural formula:

1. Product Property

Stearyl alcohol is a white, waxy solid with a faint characteristic odor。 It is insoluble in water but soluble in organic solvents. This compound has a melting point of approximately 56-59°C and a boiling point of 210°C at reduced pressure。 It is used in various applications due to its emollient properties and ability to act as an emulsifier。

3. Application Scope and Usage

Octadecanol can be used in the production of Pingpingol, resins, synthetic rubber, and colorants for color-collecting films, etc. Antioxidant 1076 (2082-79-3) can be prepared by reacting octadecanol with β-(3, 5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl) methyl propionate with sodium methoxide as the catalyst and dimethyl sulfoxide as the solvent at 130℃ for 2-3 hours. This is an excellent non-polluting and non-toxic antioxidant, widely used in polyolefins, polyamides, polyesters, polyvinyl chloride, polystyrene, ABS resins and various rubber petroleum products.

4. Package and Storage

Stearyl alcohol is typically packaged in 25 kg plastic-lined bags or drums。 It should be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture。 The storage area should be well-ventilated to prevent the accumulation of dust。 It is important to keep the product sealed to maintain its purity and prevent it from absorbing moisture from the air。
