1.Product Property
Vinyl acetate is a colorless, mobile liquid with a sweet, fruity odor. It is highly flammable, with a boiling point of 72.7 °C, freezing point –93 °C, and flash point –8 °C. The density is 0.932 g cm⁻³ at 20 °C, and it is slightly soluble in water while miscible with most organic solvents.
2.Technical Norm

Appearance | Colorless liquid |
Purity (GC) | ≥ 99.9 % |
Water | ≤ 0.05 % |
Acidity (as acetic) | ≤ 0.01 % |
Inhibitor (HQ) | 3–7 ppm |
Color (APHA) | ≤ 10 |
3.Application Scope and Usage
Vinyl acetate is the principal monomer for producing polyvinyl acetate, polyvinyl alcohol and ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymers. These polymers are widely employed in water-based paints, adhesives, paper and textile coatings, packaging films, chewing gum bases and non-woven fabric binders. The monomer is also used to manufacture intermediates for paints, coatings and specialty chemicals.
4.Package and Storage
Vinyl acetate is supplied in 180 kg epoxy-coated steel drums, IBC totes of 1000 L, or in stainless-steel road tankers. Smaller quantities are available in 25 L UN-approved HDPE carboys. Store in a cool, shaded, well-ventilated area away from oxidizers, acids and ignition sources; maintain temperature below 25 °C and prevent polymerization by avoiding prolonged storage. Drums must be tightly sealed and electrically grounded during transfer.
