Colorless to slightly yellow transparent liquid. It has a fragrance of vanillin and coconut, with a warm and sweet herbal flavor. It is miscible with water and most organic solvents, resins, waxes, etc., but insoluble in anhydrous glycerol, tragacanth, casein, and soy protein, etc.

3.Application scope and Usage
γ-Valerolactone, as a food additive (FEMA 3103), is mainly used for blending caramel, cream, and nut flavors. It is applicable to dairy products (ice cream, yogurt), baked goods (bread, cookies), candies (toffees, chocolates), and coffee flavor enhancers.
4.Package and Storage
γ-Valerolactone is packaged in 25kg aluminum drums or HDPE plastic drums (filled with nitrogen), with a food-grade inner PE film lining. It should be stored in a cool, dark place (< 25℃), and sealed tightly to prevent oxidation. The shelf life is 18 months. After opening, it is recommended to use it within 6 months.
