1.Product Property
Sodium hydroxide, also known as caustic soda and lye, has the chemical formula NaOH. It is a highly corrosive strong base. It is usually in the form of white tablets or granules and can dissolve in water to form an alkaline solution. It can also dissolve in methanol and ethanol. This alkaline substance has hygroscopic properties and absorbs water vapor from the air, as well as absorbs acidic gases such as carbon dioxide. Sodium hydroxide is one of the commonly used chemicals. It is widely applied and is a necessary substance in many industrial processes.
2.
Parameter | Specification |
Appearance | White flakes, pearls or pellets (solid) Clear, colorless liquid (solution) |

Carbonate (as Na₂CO₃) | ≤ 1.0% (Solid), ≤ 0.2% (Solution) |
3.Application scope and Usage
It is used in the production of paper and cellulose pulp; it is also used in the production of soap, synthetic detergents, synthetic fatty acids, and the refining of animal and vegetable oils.
It is used in the textile and dyeing industry as a sizing agent, scouring agent, and mercerizing agent for cotton fabric.
It is used in the chemical industry for the production of borax, sodium cyanide, formic acid, oxalic acid, phenol, etc. It is used in the petroleum industry for the refining of petroleum products and in oil well drilling mud.
It is also used in the production of alumina, metal zinc and metal copper surface treatment, as well as in glass, enamel, leather, medicine, dyes and pesticides.
It is used as an acid neutralizer in the food industry, as a peeling agent for citrus fruits and peaches, as a detergent for empty bottles and cans, and as a decolorizer and deodorizer.
It is a widely used basic analytical reagent. It is used for preparing standard alkaline solutions for analysis. It is a small amount of carbon dioxide and water absorbent. It is used for acid neutralization. It is used for sodium salt production. It is widely used in papermaking, chemical industry, dyeing, medicine, metallurgy (aluminum smelting), chemical fibers, electroplating, water treatment, exhaust gas treatment, etc.
It is used as a neutralizing agent, a masking agent, a precipitant, a precipitant masking agent, a color developer for the determination of ketosteroids by thin-layer analysis. It is used for sodium salt production and saponification. It is used for the production of various sodium salts, soap, pulp, finishing of cotton fabrics, silk, viscose fibers, rubber product regeneration, metal cleaning, electroplating, bleaching, etc.
In cosmetic creams, this product and stearic acid, etc. undergo saponification to act as emulsifiers, used to manufacture snow cream, shampoo, etc.
4.Package and Storage
It should be stored in a cool, dry and well-ventilated warehouse. It should be kept away from fire sources and heat sources. The warehouse temperature should not exceed 35℃, and the relative humidity should not exceed 80%. The packaging must be sealed and must not be damp. It should be stored separately from flammable (or combustible) substances and acids, and must not be mixed together.
