Alias: Sodium bisulfite
Molecular formula: NaHSO3 Relative molecular mass: 104.061
Structural formula:
1.Product Property
Sodium bisulfite is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula NaHSO3. It is a white crystalline powder with an unpleasant odor of sulfur dioxide. It is mainly used as a bleaching agent, preservative, antioxidant, and bacteriostatic agent.
2.
Parameter | Industrial Grade | Food Grade |
Purity (NaHSO₃) | ≥95.0% | ≥97.0% |
SO₂ Content | ≥58.0% | ≥60.0% |
Iron (Fe) | ≤0.005% | ≤0.002% |
Heavy Metals (Pb) | ≤10 ppm | ≤5 ppm |
Water Insolubles | ≤0.05% | ≤0.02% |
pH (10% solution) | 3.5–4.5 | 4.0–4.5 |
3.Application scope and Usage
Sodium Bisulfite is widely used as a food preservative (beverages, dried fruits), water treatment dechlorination agent, and textile bleaching auxiliary. It also serves in chemical synthesis and photography for its strong reducing properties.
4.Package and Storage
Sodium bisulfite is packaged in 25kg inner PE film-coated kraft paper bags or plastic woven bags. For food-grade use, double-layer moisture-proof packaging is required. Store in a cool and dry place (<25℃), strictly sealed to prevent moisture and air (susceptible to oxidation), and keep away from acids and strong oxidants. Pay attention to ventilation during operation (SO₂ may be generated during decomposition). The shelf life is 12 months.
