CAS: 52504-24-2
Alias: PEG-6 CCTG, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride PEG-6 Esters, Solubilizer GTCC
1.Product Property
PEG-6 Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride is a clear, colourless to light-yellow liquid with a faint, fatty odour. It is miscible with water, ethanol and most cosmetic oils. The product has an HLB of 15, giving excellent emulsifying and solubilising power while remaining non-irritating and non-comedogenic. It is stable between pH 3–10 and remains liquid down to 5 °C.
2.Technical Norm
Parameter | Specification |
Appearance (20 °C) | Clear liquid |
Colour (APHA) | ≤ 100 |
Water content | ≤ 1.0 % |
Acid value | ≤ 1.0 mg KOH/g |
pH (1 % aq.) | 5.0–7.0 |
Iodine value | < 0.5 g I₂/100 g |
3.Application Scope and Usage
PEG-6 is recommended as a refatting and solubilising agent in cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. It locks in lipid components, increases skin softness and prevents defatting after cleansing. It dissolves make-up, sunscreen and sebum quickly, making it ideal for micellar waters and cleansing oils. In water-alcohol systems (after-shaves, gels) it prevents skin contraction and helps solubilise fragrance, essential oils and active ingredients. It also effectively reduces the viscosity of high-surfactant liquid detergents. Typical use levels: 2–10 %.
4.Package and Storage
Packed in 190 kg net new epoxy-lined steel drums (Ø 585 × 890 mm) with sealed bungs. Store in a dry, well-ventilated area at < 35 °C, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Low temperatures may cause temporary cloudiness; gentle warming restores clarity. Shelf life is at least 18 months from manufacture in unopened original packaging.
